Are you interested in getting an up-close, real-life experience on the power of peer support to change lives?
Then volunteer with Sunrise at our Drop-In Community Center at 209 Tunnel Road in Asheville, NC. You’ll get a first-hand look at how we use the power of lived experience and authentic peer support to walk alongside community members navigating trauma, substance use, and mental wellness challenges.
You will be helping our staff of Certified Peer Support Specialists with tasks such as:
- Greet participants as they enter and offer orientation to the space
- Make coffee/tea or set out snacks in shared areas
- Help create a welcoming vibe—music, magazines, calming lighting, etc.
- Offer peer connection or light conversation to help reduce isolation
- Help prep flyers, resource handouts, or harm reduction kits for outreach
- Set up and break down chairs/tables for groups or meals
- Wipe down surfaces, sanitize shared spaces, and keep things tidy
- Help organize supplies or donations (clothes, hygiene kits, etc.)
- Create bulletin boards, flyers, or visual displays
- Help update the community calendar or info wall
- Assist with light office tasks like copying, labeling, or organizing materials
