Founded in 2016, Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness (Sunrise) is recognized by SAMHSA & NC Department of Health and Human Services as a regional Recovery Community Organization (RCO) for the central to west region, spanning from Charlotte to Cherokee. Sunrise is led and governed by those in the recovery community and their allies. Our staff of Certified Peer Support Specialists use their lived experience with substance use and mental health challenges to be a force of good in the community and help others discover and maintain their pathway to recovery. Our mission is to empower individuals to meet their full potential through peer support, resource connection and innovative programming.

Sunrise is 100% staffed by Certified Peer Support Specialists. To become a member of Sunrise’s team of Certified Peer Support Specialists, you will either need to already have your Peer Support Certification, or be willing to complete your certification within 90 days.

Sunrise Community for Recovery and Wellness is hiring an "as-needed" position for their Blair H. Clark Respite House program. This position will fill in for staff "as-needed" to support the Respite House and guests which includes creating a safe supportive space for the Respite participants. The Respite House is an innovative program where guests can stay for free up to seven nights for free in a residential house complete with the amenities of home. The Strategic Community Opioid Response/MAT Jail Certified Peer Support Specialist works collaboratively with the Buncombe County Sheriff's Detention Center to provide supportive services to individuals returning to the community from Buncombe County Detention Facility.
This individual works with these individuals post-release by supporting their sustained recovery and health needs through provision of system navigation and engagement support.
