Are you looking for a job, but have a felony conviction?

SUNRISE COMMUNITY FOR RECOVERY AND WELLNESSIf you are looking for a job, and you have a criminal record, you know that it can be challenging finding employment. You have options for employment, for getting support during the employment process, or using your lived experience to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist.

CLICK HERE for a list of workplaces that will hire qualified individuals, regardless of their criminal history. Applying for a position does not automatically ensure you of getting the job, but a criminal record will not be a barrier to employment.

Check out the Chamber of Commerce Inclusive Hiring Partners page. This is a resource to close the opportunity gap for Buncombe County residents experiencing employment barriers like former incarceration, substance use disorder recovery, and more. This program works together with a network of partner organizations to lower barriers to employment by connecting job seekers with support, mentorship, and guaranteed interviews. This is cost-free for job seekers.

If you are interested in taking your lived experience and using it as a means to start your career as a Certified Peer Support Specialist, contact Sunrise’s Peer University program and learn how you can start your journey helping others overcome substance use and mental health challenges.
