Sunrise will also provide technical support for the awardees including consultations, help with creating sustainability plans, how to implement a Peer Support model and more.
We are thrilled and honored to be a part of this selection and support process, and help establish vital, life-saving RCO’s throughout the state.
We would like to introduce you to one of the RCO awardees, Wilkes Recovery Revolution, located in Wilkes County, NC.
Through the wisdom of lived experience, Wilkes Recovery Revolution, Inc. is creating a community where recovery from addiction is possible through; Restoring Hope, repairing Lives and Rebuilding Community.
Wilkes Recovery Revolution founder and Executive Director, Devin Lyall had to leave Wilkes County to access the services needed to support her recovery. So when she returned in 2014, she dedicated herself to providing peer support and housing to others in need in the community. Devin started out by working as a Certified Peer Support Specialist for a local nonprofit before starting Wilkes Recovery Revolution (WRR). WRR opened the county’s first transitional housing facility and has gone on to host eight unique programs. Through these programs WRR provides housing, syringe exchange services, naloxone, a space to work on wellness, employment services, dental assistance, transportation, crisis assistance, a work program with a living wage and a community outreach and education program.
Wilkes Recovery Revolution will use the $50,000 award to expand its services and programs for individuals and families in Wilkes County struggling with substance use and mental wellness challenges.
